Discover the Legendary Quality of John Deere Die-Cast Metal Tractors?

Die casting is a process in which liquid metal is forced into molds in order to produce precision metal parts with exact dimensions and dimensions that meet customer specifications. Once formed, an ejection mechanism pushes it out of the mold while the force applied must be carefully controlled by an operator – creating a time-consuming process but producing durable toys of very high quality and design.
John Deere Precision Classic toys are handcrafted out of die-cast metal and feature highly realistic moving parts to give a realistic appearance. These collectibles make great additions to any collection and gifts for anyone interested in farm toys – as well as teaching children the value of farm safety!
One of the major enhancements to this series was the launch of the Key Precision series. This line opens up new modeling possibilities and allows collectors to purchase tractors that weren’t in the original Precision Classic line – such as the blue tractor that first came out in 1990 that now appears in the Key Precision line, allowing people to relive childhood memories through precision style models, that always brought joy!
Key Precision series introduced an alternative display method: laminated posters to showcase all available tractors from this series, instead of images showing individual toys from inside their boxes as was done previously for Precision Classic series toys. Each tractor’s number and serial number are printed prominently on these new posters so collectors can keep tabs on their collections more easily.

How Realistic are John Deere Precision Classic Toy Tractors?

Precision Classic Tractors feature intricate moving parts that replicate those found on real tractors, along with highly detailed models featuring collector coins and historical booklets – even some including functioning lights – making these toys an invaluable addition to any collection.
Fred Ertl is often credited as being at the origins of the modern farm toy hobby. During a 1945 strike at his foundry in Dubuque, Iowa, Ertl created Precision toys during a strike; when his son’s cast iron John Deere Model A broke, Ertl thought there would be money to be made making metal toy tractors for sale to collectors.
Ertl was one of the pioneering toy manufacturers to introduce pressed steel tractor sets with fully functional parts, sold through hardware and toy stores and featuring an authentic U-shaped hitch and two or three pulleys similar to those found on real John Deere tractors. Additionally, other early toy companies made similar die-cast metal sets, often featuring green and yellow colors from John Deere models.
Notable companies producing farm toy tractors in the 1950s included Lakone-Classic of Aurora, Illinois (known for producing plastic tractors); Product Miniature in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which offered Allis-Chalmers and Ford parts; Andy Reuhl Products out of Madison, Wisconsin, was another family business which produced toy tractors ranging in scales from 1/25-scale up to 1/32-scale.
In the 1960s, SpecCast Toys of Dyersville, Iowa–now part of Racing Champions/Ertl–began manufacturing 1/8-scale model tractors using an innovative process. Molded metal was hand-painted to give each tractor an authentic appearance.
Ertl was initially the go-to supplier for realistic farm toys; however, with toy shows becoming more frequent and market growth expanding exponentially, more realistic models became in demand. Unfortunately, their annual production capacity for Precision series models is limited, forcing collectors to turn to scratch-builders for models that they couldn’t find from Ertl.
Ertl decided to move its Precision Series forward by concluding it with model 25 from its original series; a John Deere 5010 packaged in an attractive chrome-colored box was given this designation and marked the launch of what would later become known as Key Precision Series releases.
